A VOTER in the Setiawangsa parliamentary constituency in Kuala Lumpur has chided the Election Commission (EC) for not allowing her to vote today as she had been registered as a postal voter.

The social media user with the Twitter handle Aisha Ocasionalmente Corta AOC@aisha_adam said she had never registered as a postal voter and had always voted in Malaysia.

She tweeted: “Untuk konteks (for context), apparently someone had registered me as a postal voter, using my residential address and phone number from 2015 without setting up a MySPR online account (so I cannot track through DHL express in Australia).”

In a brief video, she said: “I couldn’t vote today. How is my data managed by those who are compiling it?

“It is very irresponsible. For me it is not the fact that one vote has been lost today.

“But (it’s about) the data breach, my democratic right.”

In another tweet, Aisha said: “I have made it clear to all SPR (Election Commission) staff here, I AM ANGRY. But I am not angry at them. I am angry at the system, at gross violation of my personal data and democratic rights. I understand their limitations, which is why I demanded that their boss come down and solve this!”

She added in another tweet: “I have refused to seek help or contact ANY political party. I have been very clear that my issue is with SPR. This is their responsibility.”

“Will be lodging a police report around 6pm at Balai Polis Setiawangsa,” she said. – November 19, 2022.
