MALAYSIANS should not give their mandate to either Pakatan Harapan (PH) or Perikatan Nasional (PN) as they failed to properly govern the nation in the 39 months they were in power, Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Ahamd Zahid Hamidi said.

Pointing to the two administrations of PH and PN, which governed for a combined 39 months, Zahid said that they failed to provide good leadership.

“The 22-month experience of the PH government showing a popular leader alone is not enough if it is not supported by a cabinet and party grassroots.

“Similarly, (it is the case) if a leader who has led for 17 months fails to provide continuity of good leadership.

“Then it is clear that both the parties or coalitions should not be given a mandate to make Malaysia an experimental country,” Zahid said in a special speech at Bagan Datuk today.

After the previous general election, Malaysia had three different governments, led by three different prime ministers.

PH created history by winning GE14 but their administration only lasted 22 months before several PKR lawmakers shifted alliance to Bersatu, following the infamous ‘Sheraton Move’.

Following that, the Muhyiddin Yassin-led PN formed the government, but his leadership ended after just 17 months as the Bersatu president resigned, allowing Ismail Sabri Yaakob to take charge.

Zahid said the people should return the mandate to BN to reinstate the country’s glory.

“We have leadership and are experienced in handling the country in good and bad conditions.

“BN is a party that celebrates diverse views but remains based on collective decisions.

“BN also holds the same goal, which puts the needs of the people first despite differences of opinion,” he added.

Zahid said that stability for the country and leadership could only be achieved through BN.

“This is what the country needs. This is also our approach so far that can guarantee stability can be maintained.

“Stability is very important for Malaysia to regain the confidence of foreign investors, the confidence of the country’s own people, that they have a bright future,” he said.

Zahid’s speech is seen as a last-ditch attempt to woo voters to cast their ballot for BN. – November 18, 2022.
