PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli has told the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Azam Baki that the agency’s recent raids on his Invoke data analytics company were tantamount to political prosecution.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for Pandan also said the justification for the raids was dubious.
“Saturday, we vote, then after we win the elections, we will look for Azam Baki and I know he is looking at this.
“I hope when Pakatan Harapan wins, we look for you, you won’t blame your brother again,” he was quoted as saying at a rally in Johor last night, referring to the share ownership scandal last year where Azam said that the shares were bought by his brother through Azam’s account and transferred to him, leaving Azam with no pecuniary interest.
Azam was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
Rafizi also alleged that the MACC raids were conducted at the request of Barisan Nasional (BN) and Umno to prevent him from returning to parliament.
He also said he was frustrated at the harassment of his staff.
“You are deliberately detaining my staff, you are bullying them, you are asking them nonsense.
“If you want to interrogate, ask for documents or seize something, please follow the law,” he said.
Yesterday, MACC said it had seized some documents from Rafizi’s office as part of its investigation into his declaration of assets.
“It was not a raid. We only seized documents following a report made by a civil society group. We will investigate every report lodged,” an MACC source said.
Rafizi has declared RM18.8 million in net assets as part of PH’s transparency drive. – November 17, 2022.
