ISMAIL Sabri Yaakob has vowed to bring greater prosperity to Malaysia and put an end to divisive politics if he is given five more years to serve as  prime minister.

“I have been a PM for all and I will continue to be a PM for all.

“We have not seen any polemics on religious and racial issues lately. This is important for a country with a pluralistic society.

“I succeeded in managing numerous issues that cropped up. I did it in the short period I led the country.

“Give me five more years and I will be able to do a lot more,” he said in a TV interview that was reported by the New Straits Times today.

He said that the people had accepted his credo of Keluarga Malaysia, which he introduced soon after becoming the prime minister, to strengthen unity and harmony among the people.

He added that he came to power “at a very challenging time, but still managed to resolve many issues that cropped up”.

“Nobody tried to topple me,” he said.

Ismail also promised to reduce the size of his cabinet and to appoint technocrats and skilled people to it.
