JUST before Malaysians cast their ballots on Saturday, an unidentified group of concerned citizens have highlighted extravagant purchases by politicians on an online platform called voteordie.shop.

According to the “online shop”, its aim is to highlight some of the immense wealth Malaysia’s political elite have accumulated by various means over their years in service.

The site said while the average Malaysian’s wage is RM3,037, the minimum wage in 2022 was half that.

The creators of the website have also questioned if Malaysians are properly represented by politicians who flaunt jewellery and clothes worth more than what most Malaysians will ever see in their lifetime.

Among the items displayed on the site as being “for sale” is a Richard Mille RM033 Extra Thin watch as allegedly worn by Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, valued at a whopping RM423,150.

The site also features an Aquaracer CAF101A watch priced at RM6,806, the same model supposedly worn by Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar Ibrahim.

It lists a Patek Philippe Nautilus watch worth RM414,584, which it says is the one worn by caretaker health minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

The most exorbitant item listed on the website is a RM1 million Felipe Massa Rose Gold watch as allegedly worn by Ketereh incumbent Annuar Musa.

Also listed are luxury items supposedly worn by Najib Razak and his family members, caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s shirts and shoes, as well as Annuar’s expensive slippers, priced at RM4,650.
