PAKATAN Harapan de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was warded today after experiencing a negative reaction to a steroid injection, a statement from PKR said today.

Anwar was given the injection on Saturday to treat prolonged pain following an operation on his shoulder some months ago, PKR’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil said.

The steroids caused his heart rate to drop to a worrying level and he was warded at the Coronary Care Unit at the Kuala Lumpur hospital around 1am today.

“His condition is now stable,” Fahmi said.

Anwar began a five-year prison term in February 2015 after the Federal Court upheld his conviction and sentence for sodomy.

He is due to be released on June 8, however, under a one-third remission of his sentence. – March 5, 2018.
