NEARLY 3,000 people in Johor, Malacca, Kelantan, Perak and Selangor were housed in flood evacuation centres last night.
In Johor, the disaster management committee said 318 people were in six shelters in Segamat, Kluang, Pontian and Tangkak.
The weather in several districts was reported to be cloudy including Batu Pahat, Johor Baru and Pontian.
In Malacca, 51 people were in two shelters in Alor Gajah.
A further 12 people were in Kampung Gadek community hall shelter, while there were 39 people in Durian Tunggal development and co-ordination committee hall.
“All the displaced are from Kampung Gadek, Kampung Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Pulau and Kampung Belimbing, while Taman Bukit Beruang Bestari was also flooded in central Malacca but no shelter was opened,” a spokesman said.
In Kelantan, Social Welfare Department disaster portal said 2,214 people were in eight shelters in Pasir Mas as of 9pm.
Meanwhile, authorities said Sungai Kelantan in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas, had exceeded the warning level with a reading of 9.34m.
In Perak, there were 254 people in six PPS: SK Changkat Lobak (Kerian); SM Abdul Rahman Talib hall, Kampung Piandang hall (Siputeh); Kampung Jelapang hall, Kampung Simpang Halt hall and Kampung Padang Temak hall.
There were 34 people in SK Changkat Lobak, with four more evacuees placed in Kampung Padang Tembak.
In Selangor, 126 people were in three shelters: SK Sungai Sireh; SKM Jeram and SJKC Yuk Chih Batang Berjuntai. – Bernama, November 15, 2022.
