PERIKATAN Nasional is ready to work with Barisan Nasional to form the federal government after elections if neither party wins a majority, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said.

He said the coalition would never work with Pakatan Harapan.

“I am confident that we (PN) can form a government on our own or with other parties such as BN.

“What is certain is that we will never work with PH even if we need allies to form a federal government,” he told reporters after a ceramah in Ketereh, Kelantan, last night.

Takiyuddin said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who is also the PN deputy chairman, has also mentioned the possibility of forming an alliance for a majority post elections.

PN is made up of PAS and Bersatu, The coalition held power with Umno-led BN following the fall of the PH government in February 2020.

The relationship between PAS and Umno became strained later when the former chose to work instead with Bersatu.

Takiyuddin said he is certain BN is agreeable to working with PN again .

“We have not held any talks with them yet, but I am confident BN will agree,” he said.

Takiyuddin was campaigning in Keterah, a seat held by Umno, which has not fielded incumbent Annuar Musa in favour of a new face.

It is believed that Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had dropped Annuar because the latter was close to the PN faction.

Meanwhile, the PN candidate for Ketereh, Khlir Mohd Nor urged Annuar’s supporters to vote for him.

“I see that Ketereh voters all love their former MP. So I urge them to vote for me to send a message to BN that they had made a mistake in dropping Annuar,” he said.

In the Kelantan, PN’s main challenger is BN although PH and Gerakan Tanah Air are also running for the state’s 14 federal seats.

Kelantan is not holding its state polls until next year. – November 15, 2022.
