THE Kelana Jaya LRT line will fully reopen tomorrow, two days ahead of schedule, after services were suspended following disruption to its control systems, Wee Ka Siong said.

The caretaker transport minister said the 16 stations between the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park that were closed will be reopened at 6am.

In a video statement posted on Facebook, Wee said he had taken a ride along the line this afternoon as part of a test session to gauge the safety and efficacy of its operations.

“I am extremely satisfied with the analyses carried out on the widespread test. The Land Public Transport Agency (Apad) also verified that the Automatic Train Control system was stable and declared that the line was safe to fully resume operations,” he said after the ride.

Previously, Prasarana Malaysia Bhd announced that LRT service between the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Park stations would be suspended for seven days from November 9 to 15 due to unstable service.

It said the decision for the temporary suspension was made after taking into account passenger safety factors as well as the time taken to identify the cause of the service disruption.

The Kelana Jaya LRT line at present operates from Gombak to Damai and from Lembah Subang to Putra Heights.

Wee assured commuters that there would be continuous monitoring by Rapid Rail technical experts and the train’s OEM manufacturers to ensure that its operations run smoothly.

“I hope that this resumption can provide relief to public transport users in the Klang Valley to commute to work and to carry out daily activities,” he said.

He said feeder buses at hot spot stations will continue.

The following stations were affected during the closure: Kelana Jaya, Taman Bahagia, Taman Paramount, Asia Jaya, Taman Jaya, Universiti, Kerinchi, Bangsar, Abdullah Hukum, KL Sentral, Pasar Seni, Masjid Jamek, Dang Wangi, Kampung Baru, KLCC and Ampang Park. – November 13, 2022.
