FOUR-term Kimanis MP Anifah Aman claimed he had declined an offer for a minister’s position from Barisan Nasional (BN) in return for him not contesting in the coming polls, The Star reported.
He claimed that BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who made the offer, asked him to return the seat and support the proposed candidate.
“He will give me a senatorship and make me foreign minister, but I said that is not what I want.
“What I want is for everything enshrined under the Federal Constitution (for Sabah) as well as the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to be fulfilled, that is my struggle,” he said at a Pakatan Harapan (PH) ceramah last night.
Anifah said he is not contesting in the general election because he wants to back PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim and their candidates.
He is also supporting Anwar as the next prime minister to revive the current economic situation.
“We need a leader who can handle the state of our economy now. And that person is none other than Anwar, the best former finance minister in Asia.
“Anwar is a leader who really has the people in his heart. I ask the people to give him the opportunity to become our prime minister,” he said.
On the MA63, he said that previously he had urged former prime minister Najib Razak for the agreement to be implemented and the 40% net revenue owed by Putrajaya to be returned to Sabah.
“This is because this will secure a better future for our youth (such as) allowing them to venture into small industries, send our children to universities, as well as giving women business capital,” he said. – November 13, 2022.
