BERSIH 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah will contest in the 14th general election as an independent candidate.

The women’s rights activist said she is offering herself as an independent candidate for Pakatan Harapan. 

“I have decided to resign as Bersih 2.0 chairman and take on a new challenge in the political arena. 

“I am offering myself as a candidate for GE14 as an independent for Pakatan Harapan,” said Maria in a media invitation this morning. 

She told The Malaysian Insight the message was meant for friends and she would send out the media invitation later today. 

Last week, it was reported that Maria will contest a “safe seat” on a PKR ticket. – March 5, 2018.
