THE allegation made today by Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Anwar Ibrahim that military personnel in Bera were paid to cast their votes early is a lie, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

He said the allegation had also tarnished the image of the security forces and insulted the military personnel.

“The accusation that the military personnel were paid (to vote) is a malicious accusation. Do not insult them like that.

“I call on Anwar to retract the accusation and apologise, not to me, but to the military personnel, who were accused of being paid to vote,” he said in Kampung Bongkok, Bera, today.

Earlier today, a news portal carried a story that Anwar had credible evidence of illegal voting taking place today involving members of the armed forces, and that those who voted in Bera were paid RM300.

Meanwhile, Ismail did not refute the possibility that the military personnel cast their ballots as postal voters. – Bernama, November 11, 2022.
