THE Home Ministry will only investigate assets belonging to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli if the need arises, minister Hamzah Zainudin said.
He said as of now, the investigation will only be carried out by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“If one agency takes action, then let it do so first. We will only take action when necessary,” he said.
Yesterday, the media reported that the MACC would open an investigation paper on Rafizi’s asset declaration.
Prior to that, civil society group Pertubuhan Jalinan Perpaduan Negara had urged the MACC to investigate more than RM18 million he declared.
Meanwhile, Hamzah said 92 alleged election offences were reported nationwide as of yesterday, including under the Election Offences Act 1954, as well as the misuse of social media.
“We are investigating and will also look into offences under other acts. We don’t want anything untoward to happen,” he said. – Bernama, November 11, 2022.
