AMIRUDIN Shari has pledged to donate his monthly lawmakers’ allowance to uplift the Gombak parliamentary constituency if he bags the seat in the 15th general election.

The PKR candidate said his Gombak lawmaker’s allowance will be channelled into the Gombak Community Fund if he gets into parliament.

The Selangor menteri besar said the fund will be used to improve local infrastructure and facilities for the benefit of Gombak’s constituents.

“Dana Komuniti Gombak is an initiative to which I will contribute my salary as an MP. I will also invite the private and public sectors to contribute to the fund,” he said today during the launch of his Gombak manifesto, which was livestreamed on Facebook.

He made a slew of promises in the manifesto, which included better infrastructure for the constituents and 10,000 free laptops and tablets to students over five years to ensure they do not miss out on online learning.

Amirudin will face four challengers: Perikatan Nasional’s Mohamed Azmin Ali, who is also his predecessor as Selangor menteri besar; Barisan Nasional’s Megat Zulkarnain Omardin; Pejuang’s Aziz Jamaludin Mohd Tahir and Independent candidate Zulkifli Ahmad.

On another matter, Amirudin dismissed Azmin’s comments that PKR was a party led by a dictator, saying it was the most democratic party in Southeast Asia.

“We allow all members to vote and elect our president and deputy president,” he told reporters.

He said that PKR was the embodiment of democracy as each member had the right to vote directly for the party leadership. – November 10, 2022.
