NEGRI Sembilan has followed Selangor in declaring the eve of polling day a public holiday.

State Secretary Razali Abdul Malik confirmed the matter via a statement today.

“This holiday is to encourage the people of Negri Sembilan to prepare and fulfil their responsibilities as voters in the 15th general election on November 19,” he said.

Earlier today, Selangor declared November 18 a state holiday to allow out-of-towners to return to their respective states to vote.

Both Negri Sembilan and Selangor are Pakatan Harapan (PH)-administered states.

Penang, the other PH-run state, has not yet made a decision.

All three states will not be holding its state elections at the same time as the federal polls as they wants to be prepared to face the monsoon floods.

Yesterday, caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the government will study the proposal to declare a public holiday on November 18. – November 9, 2022.
