TENGKU Razaleigh Hamzah, who is the longest-serving MP from Barisan Nasional (BN), will contest for the 13th time to defend his Gua Musang parliamentary seat in the 15th general election.

Tengku Razaleigh, better known as Ku Li, said his services are still needed in Gua Musang, especially by the Orang Asli community who still want him to contest.

“In GE15, I will face three opposition candidates from PAS, Pejuang and PKR but I am not afraid and am ready to take them on and defend the Gua Musang seat.

“I pledge to continue ensuring the people’s wealfare and the development of this constituency,” said the 85-year-old when met by reporters in Gua Musang today.

Earlier, Tengku Razaleigh, accompanied by more than 2,000 BN supporters, including the Orang Asli community, arrived at the nomination centre at the Gua Musang district and land office.

Tengku Razaleigh first contested the Ulu Kelantan parliamentary seat (now known as Gua Musang) in 1974 and is the longest-serving MP in the country, having served for 12 terms.

In the 2018 general election, Tengku Razaleigh won the seat with a majority of 3,913 votes against two others from PAS and PKR. – Bernama, November 5, 2022.
