FORMER Kota Tinggi MP Halimah Mohamed Sadique will continue to support Barisan Nasional (BN), although she is not on the list of candidates for the coming general election.
Halimah, who is also the caretaker national unity minister, said she accepts the decision made by the party leadership (to not include her in the list of candidates), which was announced on Tuesday.
According to Halimah, she has no plans to contest in the polls as an independent but instead will go to the ground and campaign for the party.
“I will go down to the ground and support those contesting on the Barisan Nasional ticket. We, the BN women’s wing (together with Senator Zurainah Musa), have big hearts,” she said after opening a Keluarga Malaysia Unity Gallery programme at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Tuesday, BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, when announcing the coalition’s candidates for the polls, did not include four ministers in Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration, including Halimah.
Also not on the list were caretaker federal territories minister Shahidan Kassim (Arau); caretaker communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa (Ketereh) and caretaker science, technology and innovation minister Adham Baba (Tenggara). – Bernama, November 4, 2022.
