Noh Omar dropped, MIC gets Batu seat, says Zambry

Barisan Nasional (BN) has dropped Noh Omar as its candidate for the Tanjung Karang parliamentary seat, said Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.

In a statement, the BN secretary-general said the coalition will field Wanita Umno central committee member Habibah Mohd Yusof as the replacement for the Selangor BN state chief, who has held the seat since 1995. 

Zambry also resolved a dispute over the Batu parliamentary seat, which MIC and MCA had claimed was allotted to them. 

He said the coalition will field MIC’s Kohilan Pillay in the seat. 

Zambry said that BN was fieldling two former PAS lawmakers — Khairuddin Aman Razali and Che Abdullah Mat Nawi — in Kuala Nerus, Terengganu and Tumpat, Kelantan as direct BN candidates. 

“Tumpat and Kuala Nerus will witness BN presenting two direct candidates, in the spirit of openness and unity,” Zambry said in the statement 

Both were dropped as candidates for Perikatan Nasional (PN) when the coalition announced its east coast line-up last night. 

The BN secretary-general also said that MCA’s Chew Yin Kin will run in Bandar Tun Razak. 

Zambry announced further the names of candidates for two seats in Negeri Sembilan that were not announced on Tuesday. 

He said Umno Jempol deputy chief Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli will replace incumbent Mohd Salim Sharif as the candidate for Jempol while Adnan Abu Hasan will be fielded in Kuala Pilah, which is currently held by PN.  

The Election Commission has set polling day for November 19 with early voting on November 15. Nomination is on Saturday. – November 3, 2022.
