ELECTION watchdog Bersih will send 100 election observers (Pemantau) for the 2022 general election.

Its chairman, Thomas Fann, said the “GE15 Pemantau” is registered under the Election Commission (EC) to monitor the election process and be on the lookout for election offences committed by any party.

“Bersih’s GE15 Pemantau will observe the process and election offences, especially by candidates, political parties, election officials and authorities involved in the polls,” he said.

In addition, Fann said Bersih will also launch a website to help election observers, Bersih volunteers and the public to report election irregularities.

The civil society group is focusing on 10 election offences: bribery and vote buying, treating and gifts, undue influence by government through handouts or inducements, abuse of government machinery, excessive spending, intimidation and violent behaviour, biasness by public servants and institutions, advance and postal vote, polling day issues and electoral roll issues.

Fann said witnesses of these election offences could lodge a report at https://pemantau.org/aduanpru15/.

“For more information on election offences please visit https://pemantau.org/. This website is constantly updated with frequently asked questions and the public can check for misinformation and get accurate information about the election process.”

“This is our effort to combat misinformation and fake news,” he said.

Meanwhile, Fann said a hotline will be set up for the public to call if they had any questions or issues regarding the election process and conduct of election.

“The public can also their questions via WhatsApp to 017-684 2726 or email [email protected],” Fann said.

Bersih will also make full use of social media channels for the public to follow: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. – November 3, 2022.
