GABUNGAN Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Barisan Nasional (BN) are still in discussion on the candidate to contest the Beluran parliamentary seat in the coming general election, Bung Moktar Radin said.
The Sabah BN chairman said the decision on the candidate will be announced before nomination day on Saturday.
“Still in discussion,” he said when met by reporters after the GRS-BN candidate announcement for the November 19 polls in Kota Kinabalu today.
At the event, neither party announced any candidate to contest the Beluran seat.
The former Beluran MP is Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee, who is also the caretaker agriculture and food industries minister.
In a separate development, Bung said former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman has not expressed any intention to make a comeback in this election.
“Thus far, he (Musa) has not said anything about making a comeback,” he said, when asked about the rumour that Musa will contest in the polls.
Bung said caretaker deputy finance minister II Yamani Hafez Musa, who is the incumbent Sipitang MP, has declined to be nominated for the polls.
Yamani, who is also Musa’s son, won the Sipitang seat on the BN ticket in the 2018 general election, before joining Bersatu.
Matbali Musah of GRS-Bersatu has been named as a candidate for the Sipitang seat. – Bernama, November 2, 2022.
