AZMIN Ali will defend his Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th general election, announced Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, ending speculation of the former PKR deputy president being moved elsewhere.

Among the other prominent defectors who will stay and defend their seats are caretaker home minister Hamzah Zainudin, who will defend Larut, caretaker foreign minister Saifuddin Abdullah (Indera Mahkota), deputy foreign minister Kamaruddin Jaafar (Bandar Tun Razak), deputy environment and water minister Mansor Othman (Nibong Tebal)
and deputy dewan rakyat speaker Mohd Rashid Hasnon (Batu Pahat).

As expected, Muhyiddin will defend his Pagoh seat while Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu will defend Tambun, which is also being contested by PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Muhyiddin said the seat negotiation between the components had gone smoothly without any trouble.

“All our seat negotiations are complete. There was no fighting or squabbling,” he said.

Muhyiddin said at the federal level, Bersatu will contest 74 seats, PAS (64), Gerakan (20), and other associated parties (11).

He said the PN slate for Kelantan and Terengganu will be announced on Wednesday.

He confirmed that PN will use the PAS logo in three states — Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.

The PN chairman confirmed a Malaysian Insight report this morning that the coalition will contest 168 parliamentary seats.
