LIM Kit Siang’s daughter, Lim Hui Ying, is the DAP candidate for the Tanjong federal seat in Penang.

Incumbent Tanjong lawmaker, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will stand in Batu Kawan, replacing Kasthuriraani Patto who has decided not to contest in the coming general election.

Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid will replace Wong Han Wai in the Bukit Bendera seat.

Four other lawmakers will be defending their seats: RSN Rayer (Jelutong), Ramkarpal Singh (Bukit Gelugor), Steven Sim (Bukit Mertajam) and Lim Guan Eng (Bagan).

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced the condidates today.

Penang will be holding its state polls next year instead of during the general election.

Kit Siang held the Tanjong seat for three terms from 1986 to 1999. The seat was once the stronghold of former Gerakan leader and former chief minister Lim Chong Eu. It has been a DAP seat since 1978. – October 30, 2022.
