Selangor, KL to face water cuts next week

RESIDENTS in several Selangor and Kuala Lumpur areas will face water disruption up to four days because of emergency repair works at a water treatment plant.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) said that the operator of the Sungai Selangor Phase 3 plant would take 10 hours for critical equipment repair work from 8am to 6pm on Tuesday.

Syabas said the repairs would lead to a total plant shutdown.

“The plant currently produces 800 to 820 million litres water per day.

“With such a large volume, the time needed to restore water supplies to our customers will differ from one area to another, depending on their geographical location and altitude,” said Syabas in a statement.

Klang and Shah Alam will be affected from 8am on Tuesday (March 6) until 9am on Friday (March 9).

Kuala Lumpur and Gombak will face water disruption from 8am on Tuesday (March 6) until 9pm and 12 midnight respectively on Thursday (March 8).

Kuala Langat will be affected from 8am on Tuesday (March 6) until 3pm on Wednesday (March 7).

Hulu Selangor and Petaling Jaya will be affected from 8am on Tuesday (March 6) until 9pm on Wednesday (March 7).

Syabas advised their customers to store sufficient water before March 6.
