BERSATU’s Mustapa Mohamed will defend the Jeli parliamentary seat under the PAS banner in the upcoming general election (GE), says Muhyiddin Yassin.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman said other than the incumbent economic affairs minister, the other Bersatu candidate who will defend his seat under the PAS logo would be Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, who is Tanah Merah incumbent.

Muhyiddin said the decision is consistent with the PN stand for all PAS candidates to use their party logo in Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

“Our Bersatu candidates are using the logo and we are okay with it provided we win the seats. This is to ensure PN’s victory in Kelantan,” he said at the gathering in Kota Baru to celebrate 32 years of PAS rule in Kelantan.

Mustapa retained Jeli on a Barisan Nasional ticket in the 2018 GE, but soon after left Umno to join Bersatu.

Ikhmal Hisham also quit Umno for Bersatu soon after the last GE after serving Tanah Merah for two terms as an Umno MP. – October 22, 2022.
