NEGRI Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun has been named Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Port Dickson constituency in the general election.

The announcement was made by PH chairman and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim during his speech in Port Dickson last night.

“I need to choose a candidate who can be trustworthy, his standard on par with me or slightly higher than my standard. He is a good personality, good worker and importantly a local. He did not ask for it, he instead pleaded to not pick him.

“This is a good example, won’t affect his job. He will be menteri besar and Port Dickson division chief.

“It is not about position but good service to the people,” he said.

Yesterday, Anwar confirmed that he would be contesting in Tambun, Perak, deciding against defending Port Dickson, which he won by a 23,560-vote majority during a by-election in October 2018.

Anwar said he was confident of Aminuddin’s ability to win.

“He is a good worker, is a local, always helped me in Port Dickson, God willing he will win big,” he said.

Yesterday, in declaring his candidacy for Tambun, Anwar said he wanted to capture the seat and strengthen the presence of PH in Perak.

“Tambun is a Bersatu constituency, so if we can win, we can also win other seats and spread PH’s influence,” he said. – Bernama, October 22, 2022.
