FAMILY members will be able to visit prison inmates on October 26 and 27 in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration which falls on Monday.

The Prisons Department, in a statement today, said the dates for the visit apply to all institutions under the department, including rehabilitation centres, special detention centres and the Henry Gurney School.

It said the prisoners, besides meeting their family members face to face, would also be allowed to do so online from October 29 until 31.

However, family members intending to meet inmates face-to-face would have to meet certain conditions, including doing the Covid RT-PCR or RTK-Ag test three days prior to the visit and not showing symptoms when arriving at the institution.

The visiting hours for the face-to-face meeting is from 8.15am to 4.15pm, with a prison inmate allowed to receive only one family visit, the statement said.

Family members will be able to make a booking for the visit on the Prisons Department’s i-Visit system at www.prison.gov.my. They can also call or send an email to the relevant institution. – Bernama, October 21, 2022.
