MALAYSIA reported 2,561 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the total cases in the country to 4,875,131 since the start of the pandemic.
Eight coronavirus-linked deaths were reported, one of which was dead on arrival. Selangor registered four of the new deaths, Kedah two, and Johor and Sarawak one each.
Selangor also accounted for most of the new infections with 902 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (683), Perak (175), Sabah (121) cases, Negri Sembilan (111), Penang (98), Kedah (88), Sarawak (74), Malacca (72), Johor (55), Kelantan (53), Putrajaya (51), Pahang (48), Terengganu (26), and Perlis (4).
Active cases rose to 25,636 while 1,248 recovered from the virus.
There are 24,483 people in home quarantine (95.5%) and 1,102 in hospitals (4.5%).
Fifty-one patients were in intensive care, 23 of whom required respiratory assistance. – October 21, 2022.
