2,295 new Covid cases, 3 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 2,295 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the caseload in the country to 4,872,570 since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020. 

Three virus deaths were reported, one each in Johor, Sabah and Kuala Lumpur, taking the national death toll to 36,429. 

Selangor posted 822 of the new infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (625). 

Sabah and Perak each registered 145 cases, Negri Sembilan (79), Penang (73), Kedah (67), Sarawak (64), Malacca (62), Kelantan (57), Johor (46), Pahang (42), Terengganu (32), Putrajaya (28), Perlis (6) and Labuan (2). 

Active cases rose to 24,331 yesterday while 1,386 people recovered from the virus.   

There are 23,215 people in home quarantine (95.4%) and 1,072 in hospital (4.6%).   

Forty-four patients were in intensive care, 11 of whom required respiratory assistance. – October 20, 2022.
