Syed Saddiq defaming Umno with ceramah disruption claims, Johor MB says

Muda supporters and hecklers square off at the Ceramah Mega Muar, in Johor, on October 16, 2022. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 18, 2022.

SYED Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was trying to damage Umno’s image when he accused the party of masterminding the disruption at his Sunday ceramah, Johor Menteri Besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi said.

Onn, who is also the Johor BN director of election operations, said the Muda president’s allegations are baseless.

“He recklessly defamed Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN), without any proof or evidence and witnesses, of causing a commotion at the event.

“I vehemently deny YB Syed Saddiq’s extreme accusations which appear to be aimed at giving Umno a bad image,” he said in a statement today.

On Sunday, the Ceramah Mega Muar was thrown into chaos when Syed Saddiq took to the podium.

A group of around 30 youngsters jeered at him, shouting “penipu” (liar) while the Muar MP was talking about the assistance he had rendered to the people in the last two years.

As Syed Saddiq continued to speak, he said Umno and Barisan Nasional were behind the heckling.

“It’s okay, let it be…, this is a tactic of Umno, BN.  They cannot fight with arguments, this is their way,” he said.

Yesterday, Muda youth chief Amir Fiqri said a police report was lodged over the ruckus.

Amir said evidence pertaining to the incident had been submitted to the authorities.

“Photographic and video evidence have been submitted to the police to aid the investigation,” Amir said on Twitter. – October 18, 2022.
