THE Election Commission (EC) has received notification letters for the dissolution of three state assemblies from their respective speakers.

EC secretary Ikmalrudin Ishak said the commission received the letters from Pahang and Perlis on Friday, and from Perak yesterday.

“As such, the important dates of the elections for three states will be discussed simultaneously at the EC special meeting held on Thursday,” he said yesterday.

Pahang, Perlis and Perak chose to dissolve their assemblies following the announcement of the dissolution of parliament by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on October 10, sending the country to the polls.

There will be 42 seats contested in Pahang, 15 in Perlis, and 59 in Perak. – Bernama, October 18, 2022.
