A POLICE report has been lodged after a group of youngsters created a ruckus while Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman was speaking at a ceramah in Muar, Johor last night, Amir Fiqri said.

Amir, who is the Maharani Muda chief, said the report was lodged today at the Muar police station and claimed that they had submitted all evidence pertaining to the incident to the authorities.

“Lodged a police report over the provocative incident that took place last night.

“Photographic and video evidence have been submitted to the police to aid the investigation,” Amir said on Twitter.

The ceramah Mega Muar in Johor last night turned chaotic when incumbent Muar MP Syed Saddiq took to the podium.

A group of around 30 youngsters started jeering at Syed Saddiq, shouting “penipu” (liar) while the lawmaker was talking about the assistance he had rendered to the people in the last two years.

The heckling caused the former youth and sports minister to stop his speech, saying he had no time to argue with troublemakers.

Police moved in to prevent a scuffle between the youngsters and Muda members. The authorities stopped the group marching forward and instructed them to leave.

Minutes after Syed Saddiq resumed his speech, the youths returned, revving their motorcycles and drowning out his speech. They fled when police headed towards them.

Amir hoped there would be no repeat of the incident, adding that the culture of gangsterism should be rejected.

Meanwhile, Muar Umno Youth chief Helmy Abdul Latif rejected links to the incident.

He said that there were no instructions from him or his party to carry out such a cheap act.

“Umno Youth strongly rejects this kind of provocative politics.

“We don’t have time for this,” he said on Twitter.

Farhan Iqbal, an aide to Syed Saddiq, said the youngsters were paid to provoke the speakers at the event.

He even accused Umno youths of being behind the incident.

It is reported that Muar Umno Youth has also lodged a police report against Syed Saddiq and several other Muda members for accusing the party of being behind the incident. – October 17, 2022.
