UMNO Supreme Council member Abdul Azeez Rahim today lodged a police report on his alleged involvement with the Penang underwater tunnel project.

“I have become a victim of people selling my name. I hope that the authorities will investigate this in a transparent manner.

“To my all friends out there, those in Parliament, ministers, or deputy ministers who are victims of people using their names, there must be a stop to all of this,” he told reporters outside the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters this morning.

Azeez arrived with about 100 supporters who brought pla cards with the words “tolak politik fitnah” (reject political lies) and “hentikan berita palsu” (stop fake news).

The Baling MP was reported to have received a notice of claim for RM3 million on February 24 from Zenith Construction Sdn Bhd the company involved with the project.

Azeez today reiterated that he had never dealt with the company.

“I never had any business with Zenith… the letter is also not directly associated with my name. Someone came to see them and use my name and took the money.

“I want to appeal to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to further investigate this issue. As a responsible Malaysian, I am willing to cooperate with the authorities because I absolute deny it,” he said.

It was reported that the payment was made to seek risk management consultancy and regulatory compliance with the 7.2km undersea tunnel project.

Azeez said that there should not be any party trying to defame him and he has appointed a lawyer (to address the issue).

He said anyone could use his name as a consultant because he is the chief executive in Tabung Haji.

A businessman was also remanded for six days for allegedly receiving a RM19 million bribe to cover up the RM6.3 billion underwater tunnel project in Penang.

The businessman was believed to have received the money from a major construction company after being said to be able to resolve the MACC investigation. – March 2, 2018.

  • Same old sameold sandiwara . Just catch him and throw him into jail. They will use race , religion or even convert themselves if they are yet to be Muslim and escape justice. It is really a shame scandals after scandals all involving only mostly from UmnoBN with their supporters and tarnishing all the institutions.
