MALAYSIA logged 2,023 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, the third straight day cases have stayed above the 2,000 mark.
Total cases reached 4,865,480 since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
No coronavirus-linked fatalities were reported yesterday, keeping the death toll at 36,415.
The last time the country logged zero Covid-19 deaths was on October 1.
Selangor posted 666 of the new infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur (469) and Sabah (147).
Perak registered 146 cases, Negri Sembilan (134), Penang (96), Sarawak (91), Malacca (56), Pahang (50), Kedah (46), Johor (43), Putrajaya (30), Kelantan (25), Terengganu (15), Labuan (5) and Perlis (4).
Active cases grew to 23,881 yesterday after 1,699 people recovered from the virus.
There are 22,882 people in home quarantine (95.8%) and 965 in hospital (4.2%) with Covid-19.
Thirty-four patients were in intensive care, 20 of whom required respiratory assistance. β October 16, 2022.
