IN the coming general election, Amanah intends to contest the seats once allocated to Bersatu.
Amanah vice-president Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa said the policy set by Pakatan Harapan (PH) is very clear that all component parties can claim the seats allocated to Bersatu in the last general election.
“Alhamdulillah, the discussions have been completed without any problems and we are just waiting for the announcement of the candidates at the PH convention to be held in Ipoh, Perak, on October 20,” he told reporters after attending the Bicara Politik Semasa programme in Padang Besar last night.
The PH coalition consists of PKR, DAP, Amanah and the Upko.
In the 2018 polls, Bersatu was a PH component party before withdrawing from the coalition on February 23, 2020.
Commenting further, Mujahid said that in previous discussions at the national level, Amanah will contest 30 to 40 seats in the upcoming polls, but it will depend on the decision that will be announced later.
He said the list of candidates, including the prime minister candidate, manifesto and theme for the next general election will be announced at the PH convention. – Bernama, October 15, 2022.
