MALAYSIA logged 1,628 new Covid-19 infections yesterday, taking the cumulative cases in the country to 4.859 million. 

One Covid-19 death in Pahang was recorded yesterday, bringing the national toll of fatalities to 36,407. 

Of the new cases, Selangor continued to report the most cases with 497, followed by Kuala Lumpur (359) and Perak (124). 

Sabah posted 121 cases, Sarawak (86), Kedah (77), Negri Sembilan (61), Kelantan (55), Penang (51), Johor (48), Malacca (45), Putrajaya (42), Pahang (35), Terengganu (26) and Labuan (1). 

Perlis did not report any new infections yesterday. 

Active cases increased to 22,145 yesterday after 1,345 people recovered from the virus. 

There are 21,199 people in home quarantine (95.7%) and a further 905 in hospital (4.3%). 

There are 41 patients in intensive care, 20 of whom require respiratory assistance. – October 13, 2022.
