SULTAN of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, today granted an audience to Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad, understood to be for Saarani to request the dissolution of the state assembly.

The official car carrying the menteri besar was seen entering the gate to Istana Kinta, Ipoh, at 2.08pm.

Prior to that, cars carrying the state legal adviser Azmir Shah Zainal Abidin and state secretary Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim were also spotted entering the palace.

On Monday, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, after obtaining the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, announced the dissolution of parliament.

The prime minister also advised heads of state governments – other than Sabah, Sarawak, Malacca and Johor – to also seek dissolution.

Perak has 59 state seats, 25 of which are held by Barisan Nasional (BN), followed by DAP (15), Amanah (5), Bersatu (4), PAS (3), PKR (3), PBM (3) and independent (1). – Bernama, October 12, 2022.
