TERENGGANU’S menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mohktar’s meeting with the state ruler earlier today was not about seeking a royal assent to dissolve the state assembly but on the usual administrative matters.

Ahmad Samsuri said he did not propose the dissolution of the state legislative assembly during his meeting with Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin.

He said the meeting was only to discuss matters related to state administration.

“It was a regular meeting. This is indeed a weekly meeting with the sultan before the state exco meeting.

“There is no discussion about dissolution,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Earlier today, the Terengganu menteri besar was reported to have met the state ruler at Istana Syarqiyyah, Chendering, for about an hour, which ended at 8.35am.

He then attended the weekly state government exco meeting at 9.19am.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the dissolution of parliament on Monday, paving the way for GE15, which is now expected to be held in early November.

As it stands, only Perak, Perlis and Pahang are expected to dissolve their state assembly to hold elections simultaneously.

Previously Pakatan Harapan had said that its states of Selangor, Negri Sembilan, and Penang would only hold polls next year, but yesterday DAP indicated that Penang could decide otherwise and hold its elections along with the federal polls.

Meanwhile, PAS indicated that it too would wait until next year to hold polls in the states it controlled - Kedah, Terengganu, and Kelantan.

Four other states - Sarawak, Sabah, Malacca and Johor have already held their polls in recent months. – October 12, 2022.
