MALAYSIA recorded 1,291 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, a slight increase from 1,241 the day before, taking the tally since the onset of the pandemic to 4.86 million. 

Three fatalities were reported yesterday – two in Perak and one in Johor – bringing the national death toll to 36,406. 

Of the new cases, Selangor logged the most with 429, followed by Kuala Lumpur (318) and Sabah (94). 

Perak posted 85 cases, Kedah (62), Penang (53), Kelantan (49), Sarawak (49), Negri Sembilan (42), Johor (40), Malacca (36), Pahang (18) and Terengganu (13). 

Perlis, Labuan and Putrajaya logged one new case each. 

The number of active cases dropped to 21,863 yesterday after 1,592 people recovered from the virus. 

There are 20,897 people in home quarantine (95.6%) and a further 920 in hospital (4.4%). 

There are 46 patients in intensive care, 22 of whom require respiratory assistance. – October 12, 2022.
