THE Barisan Nasional (BN) supreme council has agreed to use the theme of “Stability and Prosperity” as its manifesto for the next general election.
BN secretary-general Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said the matter was agreed upon at the BN supreme council meeting held at Menara Dato Onn in Kuala Lumpur last night.
“BN is committed to ensuring the people’s welfare are taken care of and the country’s sovereignty continues to be protected by offering policies that are pro-people in driving sustainable and comprehensive socio-economic development,” he said in a statement.
Zambry also said that seat distribution talks among component parties and Friends of BN will be finalised.
“The council agrees with efforts to showcase new candidates with the criteria of “WALI”, namely winnable, acceptable and likeable, and it is also determined to field 30% women candidates,” he said.
In addition, he said the council also decided that all coalition election machinery be ready for the general election.
“The council instructed the chairman of the divisional coordinating committee to hold a coordination meeting in preparation for the polls,” he said.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Monday announced the dissolution of parliament to pave the way for the general election, which must be held within 60 days. – Bernama, October 12, 2022.
