JAILED former prime minister Najib Razak is subject to the Prisons Act, its regulations and will not be released to campaign in the general election, prisons director-general Nordin Muhammad said today.

“The situation and regulations are still the same… so long as he is still serving the sentence in prison, he is subject to the Prisons Act and regulations,” he said in Kuala Lumpur today, scotching the notion that Najib’s supporters may ask for special temporary release.

However, Nordin said that, apart from Najib’s application to attend parliament, the Pekan MP has not made any further requests.

He added that Najib is not receiving special treatment.

“We give the same treatment to all inmates here and there is no such term as favouritism among prisoners,” he said. – Bernama, October 11, 2022.
