SELANGOR’S Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants the current Pakatan Harapan (PH) state government to complete its full term, said Amirudin Shari.

In a statement, the Selangor menteri besar said the sovereign wanted the current administration to continue and focus on safeguarding the welfare of the people.

Amirudin said that he briefed Sultan Sharafuddin on the state government’s preparations for possible floods as well as the Selangor budget for 2023.

He said the Selangor state budget would be tabled at the legislative assembly this year.

The Selangor legislative assembly term ends in July next year.

The statement was issued by the menteri besar following an audience with the sultan this morning.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced the dissolution of parliament, paving the way for the 15th general election (GE15).

He also urged the state governments to dissolve their legislative assemblies following the dissolution of parliament as it would be cost efficient to hold state and parliamentary elections at the same time.

The PH council had said last week that it would not be dissolving the Penang, Selangor, and Negri Sembilan governments that were under its control.

Similarly, PAS had taken the same line and would not dissolve the Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah governments.

PH and PAS have said that they want the administrations of these governments to focus on the floods that are expected to hit the states during the monsoon season. – October 11, 2022.
