MALAYSIA registered 1,241 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, taking the national tally since the onset of the pandemic to 4.86 million. 

Three fatalities were reported – one each in Kedah, Perak and Penang – bringing the national death toll to 36,403.

Of the new infections, Selangor posted 543, followed by Kuala Lumpur (184) and Sabah (101). 

Perak logged 82 cases, Negri Sembilan (80), Penang (63), Sarawak (39), Johor (37), Kedah (30), Malacca (25), Pahang (21), Kelantan (14), Putrajaya (12) and Terengganu (10). 

Perlis and Labuan did not report any new cases yesterday. 

The number of active cases dropped to 22,167 yesterday after 1,843 people recovered from the virus. 

There are 21,200 people in home quarantine (95.6%) and a further 929 in hospital (4.4%). 

There are 38 patients in intensive care, 25 of whom require respiratory assistance. – October 11, 2022.
