POLICE today arrested a man they believe to have killed his neighbour with a motorcycle helmet at a flat in Damansara, Petaling Jaya.

Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the 26-year-old man was arrested in Kota Damansara earlier yesterday after receiving a report at 9.15pm on Saturday.

He said the 45-year-old victim, a member of the People’s Volunteer Corps, was confirmed dead at the scene by medical personnel.

He added that the victim was said to have reprimanded the suspect for being drunk when they were in a lift together and, upon exiting the lift, the suspect and another man chased the victim to his flat.

“The victim was hit on the head with a helmet and a plank of wood by two men in front of his unit. Police seized a helmet, the wood and a lighter from the scene,” he said in a statement last night.

The suspect has been remanded until October 14 for murder, while police said they are tracking down his accomplice and are appealing for witnesses to come forward. – Bernama, October 10, 2022.
