PUTRAJAYA has agreed to offer discounts for National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) borrowers starting from November 1, 2022 to April 30, 2023. 

The announcement was made by Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz this afternoon when tabling the 2023 Budget at the Dewan Rakyat. 

According to Tengku Zafrul, the government is offering a 20% discount for a full settlement, 15% for a half settlement and 15% off for payment made via salary cuts or direct debits. 

On top of that, Tengku Zafrul also revealed that the government has agreed to exempt the PTPTN loan repayment for students with first class bachelor’s degrees. 

Tengku Zafrul’s speech today was not much different from last year where he announced the government had offered a 15% discount on the balance of the loan for those who wished to make a full settlement, as well as a 12% discount for those who wished to settle at least 50% of their outstanding loan balance in one payment. 

A 10% discount was also offered for those who wished to make the repayment through scheduled salary or debit deductions. – October 7, 2022.
