1,794 new Covid Cases, 4 deaths

MALAYSIA logged 1,794 fresh Covid-19 cases yesterday, not many more than the 1,722 infections recorded the day before. 

The total number of infections stood 4,850,108. 

Four Covid-19 deaths were reported yesterday – three in Selangor and one in Pahang – taking the death toll to 36,391. 

Among the new cases, more than half of them were in the Klang Valley. 

Selangor posted 528 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (430), and Putrajaya (32). 

Other status and territories that reported new cases were Perak (162), Sabah (132), Negri Sembilan (85), Penang (85), Kedah (76), Malacca (58), Sarawak (57), Johor (45), Kelantan (38), Pahang (32), Terengganu (25), Perlis (8) and Labuan (1). 

Active cases totalled 23,601 while 1,227 people recovered from the virus. 

Home quarantine cases numbered 22,617 (95.8%) and hospitalisations, 948 (4.2%). 

There were 36 patients in intensive care, 24 of whom required respiratory assistance. – October 7, 2022.
