PAKATAN Harapan will look at Budget 2023, which will be tabled next Friday before deciding if it wanted to endorse it, said Anwar Ibrahim.

The opposition leader was asked if his coalition would support the budget that is going to be tabled in parliament on Friday.

“We are looking into it and we will press on how the government is handling megaprojects that are lacking in transparency; on medicine supplies and vaccines; and corruption in government contracts, which until now has not been cleared up,” he told reporters today after a forum organised by Institute Darul Ehsan in Subang today.

Last week, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed said the government will focus on efforts to revive the country’s economy in Budget 2023, to be tabled on October 7.

He said previously, the focus was on health, and as the Covid-19 situation improves, the focus would be on economic recovery.

“The main task of the prime minister and the cabinet is to ensure that inflation is under control and job opportunities continue to be created, and at the same time continue to assist small and medium enterprises,” he told reporters.

Mustapa, who is also Jeli MP, said the budget is a short-term economic plan that requires transformation. – October 2, 2022.
