FRIDAY sermons should not delve on political issues and especially not when discussions lean towards a certain party, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said.

“Issues involving politics which show bias towards a certain party should not brought up during Friday sermons.

“Friday sermon is to unravel issues which arose in our community. But if it is used for the purpose of campaigning for a certain party, then it is not allowed,” he said.

He told reporters after opening the Hari Sayyidatina Khadijah programme at the Pengkalan Chepa parliamentary constituency at Pusat Tarbiah Islam Kelantan, today.

Ahmad who is also Pengkalan Chepa MP was commenting on social media users who have questioned why some mosques have been allowed to discuss political issues in their Friday sermons.

Commenting further, Ahmad said the matter would be handed over to the respective state governments for action. – Bernama, October 2, 2022.
