INVESTIGATION papers on the leak of the alleged verdicts for the trials of Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor have been handed back over to the police for further action.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Azmi Abu Kassim said the files had first been sent to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) on August 30 and August 31.

“The papers were returned to the investigating officer for further probes and verification on September 26,” he said.

“So far, 27 people have been questioned; 17 were called up to assist in Najib’s case and 10 in Rosmah’s case.”

Azmi said the investigations will focus on the actions advised by the DPP.

“We will complete both investigation papers and refer them to the DPP soon.”

In August, the chief registrar’s office of the Federal Court lodged a police report over an alleged leak of a court ruling in Rosmah’s trial in connection with a RM1.25 billion solar energy contract.

Sentul police chief Beh Eng Lai said a court officer was among those questioned over the leak of the draft judgment.

The leaked document was posted on the Malaysia Today website run by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.

Rosmah was sentenced to 10 years’ jail for each of three bribery charges. She was also fined RM970 million in default of 10 years in jail.

Meanwhile, court officials had lodged a police report over a leaked draft judgment in relation to former prime minister Najib’s appeal to the Federal Court to overturn his conviction in the SRC International case.

The leaked documents were also published on Raja Petra’s portal.
