PAS has reaffirmed its stance and will stay with Perikatan Nasional in the upcoming 15th General Election, Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

The PN chairman said seat negotiations are being finalised.

“It was a harmonious meeting and it can be seen that PAS is still committed to being with PN,” Muhyiddin said.

“PAS is one of PN’s founders, so there is no issue about whether it wants to leave the coalition, that was not discussed at all. The meeting reaffirms our stance in the coalition.”

Muhyiddin met with PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang yesterday following his party’ statement that  Umno and BN are not its enemies at the polls.

The meeting was also attended by Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, Bersatu vice-president Mohd Radzi Jidin and PAS vice-president Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

“Hadi said that during his meeting with Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, no decisions were reached.”

“They met for 30 minutes and nothing happened. This is the good thing, he informs me of these meetings and I do the same. We don’t hide anything.”

The former prime minister said that Hadi had also proposed a unity among Malay-Muslim parties.

“We agree this is a good thing, but Bersatu cannot work with Umno. Umno has decided during its assembly to reject Bersatu.”

“They initially invited Bersatu to be part of Muafakat Nasional, but nothing came of it. So, Umno clearly doesn’t want to work with us.”

“When we face the GE, those who are not with us, we will oppose, we are opponents in politics.”

I have been told that in the near future, PAS will make its decision on its future in PN, and whether it still wants to work with Umno or cut ties completely,” he said.

Muhyididn said PN will also be going on a roadshow, Jelajah Prihatin, to meet people on the ground and share their thoughts and steps that the coalition will take if it were to become the government. – September 27, 2022.
