Hajiji quashes rumours Sabah assembly to be dissolved at the same time as parliament

SABAH Chief Minister Hajiji Mohd Noor today dismissed rumours that the state assembly will be dissolved at the same time as parliament for the 15th general election.

The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman said the state assembly still has three more years before its full term is up, and the state government under GRS and Barisan Nasional (BN) has pledged to develop Sabah while bringing progress to the people.

“We must learn from past political mistakes. Enough is enough, we do not need to be divisive anymore. This time we hope to cooperate in the best way possible and bring Sabah forward in line with the Sabah Maju Jaya slogan,” he said in a statement released after he officiated at the Batu Sapi leg of the Jelajah GRS programme in Sandakan today.

On September 11, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Bung Moktar Radin, who is also state BN chairman, said there was no possibility of the state assembly being dissolved for the next polls.

Meanwhile, Hajiji said all GRS component parties – Bersatu, Parti Bersatu Sabah, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party and United Sabah National Organisation – had agreed to use the GRS symbol in the next general election.

“What is important is that we continue to strengthen GRS, a coalition representing the multiracial and multireligious people in Sabah.

“There are those who claim that GE15 will be held next month and some are saying it will be next year, but whatever it is, GRS is ready,” he said. – Bernama, September 25, 2022.
